The Heathrow Midnight Marathon is back for its fifth year – and it’s bigger and better than ever before!
The 2019 event will take place on the night of Saturday 22nd June. Places are limited so don’t hang about! This year we are raising money for: CARE International, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Heathrow Community Fund.
Sign-up is now open for both runners and for our trusty volunteers. You can access the booking page by clicking here. If you are a runner then don’t hang about if you want to make the most of our early bird price, available until Wednesday 1st May.
How does it all work?
Heathrow’s northern runway is exactly one-twelfth the length of a marathon (3.5 km / 2.2 miles).
In 2019, for the first time and to celebrate our fifth year, all runners will be starting the race together and there are two running events on offer:
TEAM EVENT – sign up to form a team of 14 runners (including 2 spares in case of drop-outs) and each of you will run one length of the runway. The fastest 12 times will then be added together to give your team’s “marathon” time.
ENDURANCE EVENT – sign up individually and run as many lengths of the runway as you can in the available time. Historically the maximum number of lengths run has been five, but could this be the year that someone manages the sixth to complete a half marathon?
Can I take part?
If you work for Team Heathrow – which means being a part of one of over 400 companies that keep Britain’s busiest airport running every day – then you are eligible to run. All you need to do is register with your work email address when you buy a ticket to prove your affiliation. If you are eligible but do not hold a permanent airside ID, a temporary one will be issued to you specifically for the event. Volunteers must hold a valid airside pass.
Each year the event gives an opportunity for our people to run down a Heathrow runway in what is a truly unique and surreal experience, all while raising money for charity.
Great fun for a great cause – you don’t want to miss out!
